KIEV, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks and signed four documents with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after arriving in Kiev Friday, according to an India-Ukraine joint statement.
Zelensky affirmed that documents on the medical field, agricultural cooperation, humanitarian relations and culture were signed between the two countries.
The joint statement was prepared based on the results of the visit, regarding the development of strategic partnership, trade and the continuation of military-technical cooperation between Ukraine and India, Zelensky said.
During his visit, Modi reiterated India’s willingness to contribute in all possible ways to help end the conflict in Ukraine, according to the statement.
“The Indian side reiterated its principled position and focus on peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy,” the statement said.
After the meeting, Zelensky wrote on Telegram that ending the conflict and establishing just peace is a priority for Ukraine.
Modi’s trip marked the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Ukraine since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992. ■
